Altered Elegance: Throwing & Transforming Functional Clay

Discover the joy of altering pots both on and off the wheel! In this intensive, hands-on workshop, Martha Grover will share her signature throwing and altering techniques designed to exploit clay’s elegant, fluid, and sensuous qualities.​

Working with a variety of bottomless wheel-thrown forms and slabs in both the soft and leather-hard stages, participants will explore how to break free from the traditional roundness of the wheel. Through daily demonstrations and personalized instruction, we will dive deep into various altering techniques, seams, and the engineering of graceful handles and spouts to create an assortment of unique, functional forms.

Intermediate throwing skills required.
